Image resolution- poor

Post by Kelly » 11 Aug 2011, 00:41

Saving dwg files as jpg or tiff does not result in a satisfactory resolution of resulting image.
-in the case of tiff files line colours also change ie cyan becomes yellow
-maximum tiff file size appears to be ~48 mb
-saving to pdf is fine- I expected a similar result for tiff files.
Is there a way to refine the tiffs ?

Hello Kelly.
Thank you for reporting the problem with export to .tiff files. We will consider this problem. Please specify what's wrong with export to .jpg files? Resolution of created raster image can be specified. Please note, PDF is vector format that defines visualization of viewed page on scaling.

Hi Alexander,

Option settings have been adjusted so JPG quality is 100. Maximum resolution of 1200 dpi for jpg still results in image that is too pixellated
Same problem when saving to tiff- plus and added problem of colour changes
.pdf format is far better but requires additional software to change format to be combatible with other programs
Note that exporting files from a simple GIS program such as Mapinfo produces satisfactory tiffs at 300 dpi.

I am not sure what you mean by: PDF is vector format that defines visualization of viewed page on scaling

Hello Kelly.
Please specify the meaning of JPG quality is 100. Probably the resolution in pixels not enough if DWG is big, please try to increase this parameter.
Vector images are resolution independent because contain geometrical primitives information. So pixelization won't occur on scaling.
