Path length passed to CADImage.DLL

We had been using CADImage.DLL (version 6) with XnView's nconvert command line interface for viewing DWG, DXF files and we recently upgraded to version 7 of CADImage.DLL. However, we've noticed that when the full path (sent via a command line to nconvert) of a file to be viewed exceeds around 60 characters the conversion fails.

NConvert is able to convert other formats without using the CADImage.DLL plugin with much longer paths and the code used to work fine for version 6 so this must be a bug in Version 7.

Is anyone else experience anything similar?
Is this something CADSoft plan to fix?

Thanks.

Hi Sorry for the late response

This problem still persists. We are using the following:
NConvert version 5.30
CadImage.dll version 7.0.0.3
OS: Windows Server 2003 SP2 + all latest updates

We experience the same issue on x86 and x64 platforms.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks
Uther

Hi

We are experiencing problems with version 7.0.0.3 of CADImage.DLL when used with XnView's nconvert command line interface for viewing DWG and DXF files.

The command line we are using is:

nconvert -v -32bits -transpcolor 255 255 255 -merge_alpha -q 100 -rtype mitchell -ratio -resize 512 512 -out jpeg -o "test.jpg" "D:\xxxxxxxxx\xxxxxxxxx\xxxxxxxxx\xxxxxxxxx\example.dxf"

If the full path to the file to be converted ("D:\xxxxxxxxx\xxxxxxxxx\xxxxxxxxx\xxxxxxxxx\example.dxf" in the above command line) exceeds around 60 characters the conversion fails. If the path length is lower the conversion works fine.

NConvert is able to convert other formats without using the CADImage.DLL plugin with paths much longer than 60 characters.

Also, this problem is not experienced with version 6 of CADImage.DLL - only version 7 seems to be affected.

We are using the following:
NConvert version 5.30 (also tried version 5.31)
CadImage.dll version 7.0.0.3
OS: Windows Server 2003 SP2 + all latest updates

Best regards
umm
