Menu: Tools -> Measure -> Edge
Measures length of a linear edge or a curvilinear edge of a 3D model in the following display modes: 3D Wireframe, 3D Hidden lines, 3D Smooth shading and 3D Flat shading.
When the Edge command is activated, black edges appear on the 3D model. When you point the edge with the cursor it is highlighted with the orange color. When you click the edge with the left mouse button, you can get dimensions of this edge. If the edge is linear, you will get its length; if the edge is curvilinear, you will get its radius. To quit the Measure mode click Esc. The measurement results are displayed in the Measure panel (more information on the topic in the Measure Panel).
▪To delete dimensions click the dimension text with the left mouse button or press Delete using the keyboard.
▪To move the dimension text click it once with the left mouse button, move to the required position and click again to set the new position of the dimension text.
The Edge tool allows getting the following data:
First point |
XYZ coordinates of the linear edge first point |
End point |
XYZ coordinates of the linear edge second point |
Distance |
Length of the linear edge |
Center |
Radius center of the curvilinear edge |
Radius |
Radius of the curvilinear edge |
To get required values in the Measure panel you should specify original units of the drawing and units in which the result must be shown beforehand. The scale factor that is used for conversion of original units into displayed units is calculated in accordance with the selected units of measurement. There are three types of available predefined units of measurement: meters, millimeters and inches. You can set custom scale factor too. All measurement settings are available in the Options dialog box in the Measure tab.
Note: the tool is available for the following file formats: SAT, STP, STEP, IGS, IGES, BREP.
